|| | Turn Indiana Blue - a free outdoor music festival in Lafayette, Indaina

Barack Obama Free Music Festival

In September, 2008, Hoosiers from across the state will travel to Lafayette, IN to attend the Turn Indiana Blue (TIB) Music Festival. The festival will take place on September 7th and is expected to draw at least 7,500 attendees from Indiana and surrounding states throughout the day, beginning at 11 AM and closing at 8:30 PM. The festival is a rare example of true grassroots citizen power – funded and organized
entirely by local volunteers and not sponsored by any campaign or organization.

TIB will feature 14 musical acts, including headliner Kristopher Roe of the Ataris and several popular local and regional bands performing on two stages. Between acts, prominent Indiana Democratic leaders and candidates will address the crowd, including Sheila Klinker, Nels Ackerson, Tony Roswarski, and Richard Wood. Full event schedule is posted online. Through the use of Renewable Energy Credits (REC's) to offset emissions, the festival will be completely carbon-neutral. Read More...

|| | CULTURECAST VOLUME I : THIS IS A CULTURECAST | BY JOHNNY KLEMME

Hovering just below radar is the unpolished gem known as Lafayette, Indiana. The images on these pages are an intimate glimpse into the lives of so many talented artists, bands, and musicians who embody the true spirit of what has been dubbed the new music capital of the Midwest.

Presented in vivid, in your face color, Johnny Klemme's This is a Culturecast attempts to go where most photo books cannot go, exposing the multifaceted underbelly of a budding music scene in all of its defiling honesty and integrity. Narrated by J. Noah Mattern and populated with a colorful cast of characters and cultures, you are now holding the definitive field guide to an integral element of the Midwest music scene.
